Carel van der Merwe

Carel is the managing partner at the Joondalup office and holds an honours degree in Accounting from Stellenbosch University , is a Fellow of the the National Tax & Accountants Association (NTAA), an approved auditor of self managed superannuation funds and a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, in alliance with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia.

Carel has 20 years of business experience as owner of his own businesses and has been a financial director of listed manufacturing companies with operations in South Africa, Europe, the United Kingdom, USA and Asia.

Carel can offer his clients a variety of specialist skills including assistance with tax planning, establishing business and structures, financial and general business management, business valuations, business finance and immigration tax matters.

Carel van der Merwe is proficient with MYOB, Quicken and Cashflow Manager accounting software and is available for mobile tax returns.

Matthew joined the firm in 2002 and is a graduate from Murdoch Business School and a member of the National Tax & Accountants Association (NTAA). Matthew is an ASIC Registered Agent and has more than five years accounting experience across a wide variety of areas.

Matthew also has extensive experience in business design and development; business coaching and networking; marketing; and small business restructuring.

Specialty areas include:

• Small consultancy and personal services businesses;
• Arts and entertainment;
• Hair and beauty salons;
• IT consultants and web developers;
• Property investors.

Matthew has worked in the non-profit and arts sectors extensively, including a three year stint as President of the WA Circus School Inc. (2005-2008). Matthew is co-director of the fledgling production company – Nicole In Red – and consults to several small local arts and entertainment based ventures. Matthew has a passion for technology and its ability to radically simplify and transform small businesses.

Tracey Macdonald

Tracey is a recent immigrant from Zimbabwe and holds an honours degree in Accounting Science from the University of South Africa. Tracey was with Ernst & Young for 19 years and was a partner in Bulawayo when she left the firm and established her own successful accounting practice in Zimbabwe. Tracey is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe, in alliance with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia.

Tracey has more than 25 years of business and accounting experience and specialised as an auditor. Her specialist skills enable Tracey to assist clients with quality control and general accounting, establishing business and structures, financial and general business management, business valuations, business finance, profit creation and planning.
